A ban will never happen in England or the US or Western Europe. Might have a chance in China or Russia or Cuba. Shunning for example is a form of descrimination based on religion and if it impacts you financially you may have a basis for litigation.

JW attitudes to women
by Frazzled UBM ini would be very interested to hear from you ladies on this one.
i know that the society keeps women in subjugation through the headship cr@p but didn't ahve any sense about hoew prehistoric the attitudes are until the other day when we were driving out of the supermarket car park and my wife spotted a woman dressed in tight shorts (it has been very hot here) and she commented 'they say that women who dress like that dserve to be raped'.
i did a wtf and overreacted 'how can you blame the victim like that - such attitudes give men a lciense to commit rape and make women feel they are to balme if they get raped which in turn means that rape doesn't get reported and it gopes on with impunity.

Protecting pedophiles while protecting children
by stillin ini know that a lynch mob forms whenever there's a hint of anybody being a pedophile, but the truth is that not all are the slavering, predatorial animals that they are painted to be.
each circumstance has its' own specifics.
in defense of the wts, they do keep track of confirmed pedophiles now.

Whiskey with Cigars
by confusedandalone ini know a few folks here are huge cigar fans, i am asking if anyone can tell me a good whiskey to go with cigars.. i am sure this is kind of a broad question but i ma having some folks over for poker this weekend and i am trying to set things up real nice like... lol.
i have the cigars ready - but i don't want to break out the cheap crown royal... any suggestions.

Question for Current or Former Elders (baptism of minors)

my 11 year old claims she is getting baptized at the next assembly.
i have heard that i can write a letter to the boe and say that i oppose her getting baptized before she is 18. is that true?

I started smoking when I was fourteen. Quit at 16. Got disfellowshipped not much later. But not for smoking. I quit when when I was older. Then with the birth of my first child some ass__le gave me a cuban, I couldn't resist. Fine Cigar, that at the time were legal here in Canada probably still are. But if one thing the witnesses get right is tobacco is evil, just ask any Doctor. I can remember dreaming about smoking when I quit and awakening in a cold sweat. Craving the nicotene plus whatever else they put in them. I can't believe I'm defending the Tower. Over 20 years smoke free.
